Let me tell you a little bit about myself…
My name is Shae Cantrell
RECIPE CREATOR // BLOGGER // CAT ENTHUSIAST
And I am on a journey to create glowing wellness + deep, soul-tingling happiness – for me and you.
At 21-years-young I was diagnosed with celiac disease.
I knew something was wrong when stomach pains, bloating and other fun gastro symptoms became the norm. I started having headaches, dizziness, constant tiredness, mental fogginess, memory problems, pains, numbness and more.
For years I spent hours in-and-out of doctors rooms getting tests, scans and invasive procedures trying to figure our what was wrong. I finally put the pieces together myself, and asked the doc to be tested for celiac. It came back positive. Finally, a diagnosis. An answer. Some hope.
While I thought the diagnosis was the end to all my problems, it was really only the beginning of my journey to health and wellbeing.
Cutting out gluten was not enough. My symptoms continued to get worse, my health continued to decline and my weight skyrocketed.
There was so much more to my health puzzle than just cutting out gluten. I had to heal the damage it had done to my body. It caused my liver to become overburdened, which then caused toxicity and edema. I continually found new things I was allergic to, including dairy, alcohol, quinoa and all grains. I have leaky gut and many vitamin deficiencies. It has taken me a long time to understand all the puzzle pieces – and I’m still figuring it out today.
Now, after two and a half years, my body is starting to heal. So long daily headaches. Fare-well crippling stomach aches. Au revoir mental fogginess. Goodbye numbness.
I’m feeling good. Not 100% yet. But after years of trying nearly every diet, supplement, superfood, or strategy out there for healing, I finally feel like I’m on the right path.

I am here to help and encourage you to make healthier food choices, and show you that it’s not so hard after all. All it takes is a commitment to yourself to nourish your body and give it everything it needs to live a happier and healthier life.
… and so The Vedge was born
Celiac disease is seeing a huge increase – it’s now believed that 1 in 133 people have it. Most don’t even know that they have celiac, or it is misdiagnosed as something like IBS, meanwhile it is damaging their intestines.
Food allergies are also seeing a huge increase and many people are switching to plant-based, vegetarian or vegan diet because of the amazing benefits to their health, the planet and our animal friends.
When I was first diagnosed, finding recipes with ingredients I could actually eat and that tasted good was hard. I had so many failed meals, and it made it seem like eating this way forever was almost impossible if I couldn’t even enjoy one meal.
It forced me to get creative in the kitchen, and learn how to cook delicious gluten free + vegan food. And now you get to reap the benefits.
Food that is good for you doesn’t have to be complicated. Or a source of frustration or arguments. Or boring, weird or gross.
Meals should be so full of happiness, joy, and connection, with food that makes your taste buds do a little happy dance and lights you up from the inside out.
