I’m Bec, I was originally a one woman show that just loved to cook healthy food and nourish as many people as possible.

Now I have a team of awesome cooks and my beloved partner Warren all working to create something special for you through My Goodness Organics.

I want to feed you, help your body heal, create more time in your life and make your taste buds giddy with joy knowing they are relishing something that is having a positive and lasting impact on your body.

What initially got you into healthy eating and lifestyle?

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease going back 10 years ago now after experiencing extreme muscle wasting, rapid weight loss, palpitations and just not feeling great at all. I was on medication for 7 years before I began to get concerned about what this medication was doing to the rest of my body long term. Kidney and Liver damage kept on popping up on the radar as issues I needed to consider.

So, I took myself off that medication with the help of a Natropath and began overhauling my diet and lifestyle. Juicing entered my life and I juiced a stack of veggies every single morning. I ditched the gluten, dairy and sugar and really noticed such an improvement in how I felt, looked and functioned. Dairy was a big one for me. I had always suffered from really bad acne and endured so many different treatments for it. Once I removed dairy, it all cleared up! It was as simple as that for me, I couldn’t believe it. Sure I get breakouts every now and then but seriously the improvement happened in the space of just a few weeks.

Over the next 3 years, it just became my new lifestyle. There was no turning back because I knew that my body was thriving off the nutrient dense food.

What is your #1 tip for healing disease?

Cold press veggie juices are totally the shiz for boosting your bodies healing capabilities, getting rid of toxic build up and just feeling more awesome every day. Give it a go for a week, a big glass every morning and see how much better you feel. (Shae’s note – yes!!! agree 100%)

What’s your favourite quick snack?

Hmmmm that’s a hard one ! If I’m in the mood for something savory, it would be some raw almond crackers for sure with basil pesto. Or anything Tahini, my god I love tahini……. Sweet ? It would be a bowl of coconut yoghurt with some blueberries and granola sprinkled on top. Kinda like the photo below. See looks pretty yum doesn’t it.

What are your daily self-care non-negotiables?

My week is pretty crazy and finding time for myself is hard at the moment running My Goodness. My one non negotiable is an hour long dawn walk with the dogs every day. It’s my down time, my me time and the way I clear my head really before the rest of the day gets going.

Oh and tea….lots of tea! I’m addicted to Yogi Tea. Absolutely love the Ginseng Vitality, Berry Detox or Breathe Deep. There’s always a cupboard full and I’m sure they are doing me a world of good.

What’s your favourite…

Documentary? Food Inc. It makes everybody question their food choices and eating behavior.
Book? Shantaram for sure by Gregory Roberts. That book is so friggen amazing, you really do loose yourself in the story. Loved every page.
Vegetable? Pumpkin or Beetroot!
Blog? Such Different Skies by Tara Bliss. Massive girl crush on Tara. Her posts just seem to really resonate with me, be exactly what I need to hear and also trigger a lot of emotion, questions and thought in me.
Smoothies or juices? Smoothies because they fill me up, are the perfect meal on a run and the endless variations mean you never run out of ideas.

Can you share you’re favourite recipe with us?

Sure thing! I’ve got some amazing Granola for you from our menus, this ones Blueberry Cashew ☺

Blueberry Cashew Granola
  • 1½ cups raw unsalted cashews (you can use any nut combination here like almonds, hazelnuts, macadamia and brazil nuts)
  • 1 cup Gluten Free Oats
  • ⅔ cup dried blueberries (any fruit will do though....dried cherries, goji, blueberries, cranberries, apricots, figs or dates would all be amazing)
  • ½ cup pepitas (pumpkin seeds)
  • ½ cup sesame seed
  • 1 cup  coconut flakes, unsweetened
  • ½ cup coconut nectar (rice malt syrup or honey would be just fine too)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • Optional but very nice: zest of 1 orange
  • ¼ cup coconut oil (melted gently over low heat)
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  1. Put nuts to a food processor. Process the mixture into medium size crumbs, some of it will turn into finer flour/meal like consistency but that’s what we want – a variety of shapes and sizes. Transfer to a large bowl.
  2. Add the rest of the dry ingredients to the bowl except for the liquids. Mix well. Combine coconut nectar with melted coconut oil and pour over dry ingredients. Mix well so that everything is coated. (I don’t like our granola to be too sweet but if your taste buds are different feel free to add a little more nectar.)
  3. Line a couple of large trays with baking paper, making sure the sides are covered. Spoon the mix into the tray and spread out evenly. Don’t pile the mix too high as it will steam instead of toast.
  4. Place in 150 degree oven for 20 minutes, give it a good stir or shake and then another 20 minutes until golden. You can also dehydrate this recipe like we do if you’ve got access to a dehydrator. Dehydrate at 55 degrees for 12 hours making sure the trays are flipped and the mix shaken up at the half way mark.
  5. Should make about 12 servings depending on how greedy you are.
