Taco Seasoning Mix

I apologize for the lack of posts around here lately. The last few weeks have been a bit crazy around here. And unfortunately, not in the good way.

A family member has been in the hospital, so we have been visiting the hospital nearly everyday for a few weeks now. We cut some flowers from her beautiful garden and put them in a jar with a ribbon to take to her.

On top of that, I started seeing a new nutritionist to help me heal from the celiac disease, which, a year later, is still taking its toll on my health. She has put me on a detox plan to heal my liver and digestion system. So with that comes the detox symptoms including: fever, racing heart, migraines, fatigue, stomach pains and a lot of sleep.

Things are starting to get back on track now, although my detox is going to last at least a few months still. So you can see why there hasn’t been much cooking happening here!

We have also been working on an app that I will be announcing tomorrow. I think you’re going to love it. I sure do – it’s the most used app on my phone!

Here is a simple recipe for taco seasoning mix. I like my taco seasoning to be salty, sweet and very cumin-y – just like the store bought packets, which I remember eating half of while making mexican.

I measure in ‘parts’ so you can make as much or as little as you want. If you use a Tablespoon for each part, then this will make about 1 cup.

  1. I saw this recipe listed on Foodgawker. Yay for gluten free vegans! 🙂 Although I am currently “only” a vegetarian, I try to eliminate eggs and dairy more and more. Unfortunately, there aren’t many vegetarian or vegan blogs with recipes for people like me, who suffer from celiac disease or can’t have gluten for any other reason. I’ll do some more clicking around your page to see what other yummies I can fins. 🙂

    • Yep, theres not many of use around! Rare breed :). No there aren’t many around, but more and more are popping up which is great! I hope you find some useful recipes 🙂
